Carlos Mena, a season full of success and projects as conductor and singer
The 2019-20 season is full of great concerts for the Spanish musician both as a singer and as a conductor.
As a Resident Artist in the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, he has participated in the Festival de Música Española de Cádiz, conducting a concert with works by Koday, Vaughan Willians and Alberto Iglesias, has just conducted the Messiah by Haendel and on February 21 will conduct in Granada Orpheus bu Gluck.
In addition to the OCG, Carlos Mena will conduct this season the Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra in a participatory Messiah on December 20 in Pamplona and will begin the year conducting the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia in two concerts that will take place on the 10th and 11th January, with Bach as the protagonist. He will also conduct the Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias, in two concerts in Aviles and Oviedo, on May 7 and 8, with Der Tag des Gerichts, by Telemann on the program.
In his role as a countertenor, and recent even his successes in Kassel (Germany) performing the Stabat Mater by Vivaldi with the Kassel Theater Symphony and the maestro Francesco Angelico, in Montreal with the Mass in B minor by Bach with the Arion Baroque Orchestra and the maestro Andrea Marcon and at the Musikverein in Vienna where he singed the Christmas Oratory by Bach with the Wiener Akademie and the maestro Martin Haselboeck, Carlos Mena will participate this season, among others, in concerts in Barcelona, Girona and Madrid (on February 7, 9 and 11, respectively) performing the Stabat Mater by Pergolesi with Forma Antiqva and Aarón Zapico as conductor, and will return to Madrid on March 21 to offer a Spanish music recital with Concerto 1700.
