BIO

Born in 1990, he began his musical studies as a cellist and graduated from the Hochschule fuer Musik Detmold (Germany) after studying with Lluís Claret, Maria de Macedo and Xenia Jankovic. He is awarded international prizes such as the Pablo Casals Scholarship, the Vic Cello Festival or the Citté de Bayonne prize at the Ravel Academy in France.

It is in Germany where he began his singing studies with Professor Lars Woldt but graduated from the Liceu Conservatory of Barcelona «suma cum laude» under the teachings of Professor Dolors Aldea. He has received master classes from Dalton Baldwin, Carlos Álvarez, Wolfgang Rieger, Thomas Hampson and Matthias Goerne, among others.

He won the second prize in the Palet de Martorell Contest (2018), the second prize in the Musical Youth Contest of Spain (2019) and the third prize in the Germans Pla-Ciutat de Balaguer Contest (2021). He was selected in 2019 to participate in the «Concurs el Primer Palau» in Barcelona in which he is a finalist. In 2020 he made his debut on some of the most prominent stages of the liederistic genre in Spain, such as the Schubertíada de Vilabertan or the Barcelona Obertura Festival, and in 2021 he did so with the company «La Fura dels Baus» in the show «Cants de la dona liquid» as well as in the Castell de Peralada Festival.

Ferran Albrich has collaborated as a soloist with orchestras such as the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, the Sinfónica del Vallés, Ensemble Méridien, Le Concert des Nations or the JONC, performing in venues such as the Palau de la Música Catalana, l’Auditori de Barcelona, ​​the Teatro Calderón in Valladolid, the Teatro Ortega in Palencia among others and under the baton of masters such as Jordi Savall, Manel Valdivieso, Xavier Puig or José Luis López Antón.

Among the roles performed in opera, Marcello in La Bohème by Puccini or the Fraile in Los Comuneros by I. Escudero stand out. In the oratorio genre, it is worth mentioning the Saint Matthew and Saint John Passions by J.S. Bach, Handel’s Messiah, Dvorak’s Missa in D minor, Brahms’s German Requiem or Fauré’s Requiem. He also excels in the performance of symphonic lieder such as the Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen and the Kindertotenlieder by G. Mahler or the Don Quichotte a Dulcinée by Ravel. Finally, on the lied side, Schumann’s Liederkreis opus 24 and 39, Brahms’s Vier ernste gesänge, Beethoven’s An die Ferne Geliebte, Debussy’s Fêtes Galantes, Poulenc’s Tel jour telle nuit, Schubert’s Winterreise, Old American Songs by Coopland or Let us garlands bring by Finzi stand out.
