José María Moreno, new Principal Conductor of the Orquesta Filarmonica de Málaga

The Spanish conductor, chosen unanimously, will assume his new position in the next 2020-2021 season. In his election, his national and international experience, the success of the public and critics of his work conducting the OFM and the programming project presented in which the repertoire of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries will have a special weight were especially valued.

Moreno takes on this challenge with the enthusiasm and vitality that have characterized his career full of outstanding successes. He is currently the Principal Director of the Quintana Roo Symphony (Mexico), Principal Guest Director of the Orquestra da Opera no Patrimonio (Portugal) and of the Mallorca Music Festival and Musical and Artistic Director of the Mallorcan Capella.

Born in Palma de Mallorca, he studied Orchestra Conducting in Spain and at the Rimsky Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg with M. Kukushkin. Under the teachings of maestro Pedro Valencia, he is a pioneer in the introduction of Hun Yuan Taichi Chuan and Chi Kung techniques applied to the orchestra conducting technique.

He is a regular guest at the Berliner Symphoniker, Brandemburger Symphoniker, Augsburger Philarmoniker (Germany), Karelian Philharmonic Orchestra (Russia), Orquestra do Norte (Portugal), Orquesta Sinfónica de la Comunidad de Madrid, Orquesta Oviedo Filarmonia, Orquestra Simfònica Iles Balears, Orchestra Regionale Filarmonia Veneta (Italy), etc.

He has worked with prestigious artists such as Ainhoa ​​Arteta, José Bros, Roberto Alagna, Joan Pons, Carlos Álvarez, Plácido Domingo, Raquel Lojendio, Carmen Solís, Gustavo Peña, Cristina Faus, Elena de la Merced, Sonia de Munck, María Luisa Corbacho, Javier Franco or Carlos Daza, among others.

Highlights the successes of his performances in the Auditorium of the Forbidden City in Beijing, at the Berliner Philarmonie, at the Helsinki Music Center or at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid.
