The german baritone Michael Volle studied with Josef Metternich and Rudolf Piernay. He has won several singing contests, including the CIEM in Geneva and the Neue Stimme in Gütersloh.
He has been invited by the most important theatres and opera houses of the world such as the Covent Garden in London, Opera National in París, Oper der Stadt in Cologne, Sttasopern in Dresden, Nationaltheater in Mannheim, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Deutsche Oper in Berlin or the Staatsoper in Vienna, specially by the Opernhaus in Zürich where he performed regularly. He has also participated in the most important festivales like the Salzburg Festival, Athens Festival or Schwetzingen Festival.

Michael Volle has collaborated with very prestigious International orchestras, like the Israel Philharmonic, Dresdner Philharmonie, Baberger Symphoniker, Münchner Philharmoniker, Gewandhausorchester in Leipzig, Bayerischer Rundfunk, Deutsches Symphonie Orchester in Berlin, Staatskapelle in Dresden or the Montréal Symphony, among many others. He has shared the stage with the most renowned orchestra conductors like Zubin Mehta, Seiji Ozawa, Michel Plasson, Charle Dutoit, James Conlon, Marris Jansons, Valery Gergiev, Ingo Metzmacher, etc.
His operatic repertoire covers the main roles of the Operas by Mozart, Britten, Verdi Wagner, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Stravinsky, Janáček, Richard Strauss and Franz Lehár, among others. He also sings concert and oratorio repertoire: Carmina Burana by Carl Orff with Zubin Mehta, La Pasión según San Mateo by Bach with Helmuth Rilling, Novena Sinfonía by Beethoven with Lawrence Foster or the War Requiem by Britten with Mstislav Rostropovich, just to mention some.
Michael Volle has recorded for labels like Philips, Naxos, EMI or Arthaus, etc. Among other CD’s we can highlight La pasión según San Mateo with Seiji Ozawa, Taillefer with Michael Plasson, War Requiem with Martin Brabbins or Traumgörge and the Symphonische Gesänge op. 20 by Zemlinsky with the Kölner Philharmoniler and James Conlon.
