Nancy Fabiola Herrera

The mezzosoprano Nancy Fabiola Herrera is currently one of the most outstanding performers on the international opera scene. Nancy Fabiola Herrera trained at the Las Palmas Conservatory, the Madrid Royal Conservatory, the Juilliard School of Music in New York and at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, where she is now on the board of directors.
She has won many prestigious contests, such as the first prize for the best Canarian voice in the Alfredo Kraus Competition, first prize in the Francisco Alonso Competition or Pepita Embil prize awarded by Plácido Domingo in the Operalia Competition. In 2010 she won the Plácido Domingo Award for her performance of Carmen in Los Angeles Opera House.

Her exemplary performance of the lead in Carmen has taken her to the Metropolitan Opera in New York, National Opera in Paris, Covent Garden in London, Musikverein in Vienna, Arena di Verona, Terme of Caracalla, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Los Angeles Opera, Tokyo, Tel Aviv and Dresden Operas, Quincena Musical de San Sebastián, A Coruña and Jerez, among other cities.
Other operas in her repertoire include, Anna Bolenna, Il Postino, Samson et Dalila, Les contes d’Hoffmann, L’Italiana in Algeri, Werther, Norma, Rigoletto, As well as lead roles in the Rake’s Progress, Madama Butterfly, I Capuletti ed I Montecchi, Die Fliedermaus, La Dama de Picas, etc. Her symphonic repertoire includes pieces such as the Réquiem by Verdi, Mahler symphonies, El amor brujo or La vida breve by Falla.
She has performed with orchestras such as the Nordnetherlads, Sinfónica de Baleares, Orquesta Sinfónica de RTVE, Oviedo Filarmonía, Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria, Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, National Symphony in Washington, Orquesta Sinfónica de Euskadi, Orquesta Nacional de España or the SODRE Symphonic, among others. She has worked with Jesús López Cobos, Michel Plasson, Plácido Domingo, Philippe Jordan, Charles Dutoit, Pedro Halffter, David Giménez Carreras, Daniel Oren, Lorenzo Ramos, Alain Guingal, José Manuel Pérez Sierra, Enrique García Asensio, Miguel Ángel Gómez Martínez, José Ramón Encinar, Josep Pons, Miguel Roa, Emmanuel Villaume, Joseph Rescigno, Mariano Rivas, Enrique Ricci, Friedrich Haider or Enrique Patrón de Rueda. As recitalist she has performed with pianists such as Ricardo Requejo, David Lofton, Lucy Arner, Danielle Orlando, Julio Muñoz, Rubén Fernández Aguirre or Mac McClure.
She has made recordings for Detusche Grammophon (Luisa Fernanda, La Bruja, El amor burjo), Opus Arte, Columna Música, ASV Living Era, Arte Nova and Naxos.
