Núria Pomares

Born in Madrid, Núria Pomares studied spanish dance and classic ballet at the Royal High School of Dance in Madrid. Her professional debut took place in 1991 at the Lincoln Center in New York.
She danced with the company of José Antonio and the Spanish Ballets in the show Aires de Villa y Corte, and for four years she collaborated with Joaquín Cortés in several shows, including the acclaimed Gypsy Passion, dancing in major venues like the Royal Albert Hall in London, Radio City Music Hall in New York, Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Tokyo Forum or the Spoleto Festival.
In 1992 she participated in the International Conference “La Danza y lo Sagrado”, sponsored by UNESCO and directed by the dancer Mariemma.

Núria Pomares has been invited by several Festivals, dancing at the Gala de Estrellas of the Autumn Festival in Madrid, Opera Festival in A Coruña or as a soloist at the National Spanish Ballet. First dancer at the Granados’ opera Goyescas and La vida breve by Manuel de Falla, she has also danced at La dueña by Robert Gerhard at the Teatro de la Zarzuela and at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. In 2003 she created her own company with the show Al son de tí, with her own choreographies.
Since 2003 she dances in Falla’s La vida Breve under the musical direction of the prestigious conductor Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos in performances with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Tanglewood Festival, Dresdner Philharmonie, Oslo Philharmonic, Orchestra Della RAI, Orchestre de Paris, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, New York Philharmonic or the DR SymfoniOrkestret from Copenhagen.
She has also danced El sombrero de tres picos with the Kölner Philharmonie under the baton of Josep Caballé or with the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra from Norway with Terje Boye Hansen. In 2009 she was invited by Plácido Domingo to dance in his show From my latin soul at Washington’s Opera and in 2010 by Zubin Mehta to participate in the 75th Annual Gala of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
Núria Pomares runs her own dance school established in 1983.
